Before & After Care

Please read BEFORE booking your appointment, so you know what to expect for preparation as well as healing time.

On the Day of Your Appointment You Will Need

  1. ID verifying you are at least 18 years of age (required by law).
  2. Your physician’s name and phone number (required by law).
  3. A hat to protect your tattoo from daylight or UV exposure.
  4. Sunglasses if you are having an Eyeliner procedure.
  5. Eyeglasses instead of contacts if you are having an Eyeliner procedure.
  6. Intake Form and Aftercare Instructions (see policies and forms page).
  7. Please be prepared and on time!
    • If you are more than 15 minutes late or do not satisfy the requirements on the Intake Form, you will need to reschedule and will need to pay all fees for both scheduled appointments.

24 Hours Before

  1. No caffeine of any type. Caffeine will increase bleeding and bruising during treatment.
  2. No alcohol. Alcohol is also a blood thinner and will increase bleeding and bruising during treatment.
  3. No aspirin, ibuprofen, or Aleve. These are blood thinners and will increase bleeding and bruising during treatment. Tylenol / acetaminophen OK.
Do not discontinue any medications without the approval of your physician.
  4. No Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Niacin, or Fish Oil. These are blood thinners and will increase bleeding and bruising during treatment.
  5. No working out or sweat-/heat-inducing activity. This causes your pores to expand and brings salts to the surface, which both interfere with pigments.
  6. For eyeliner procedures, do not use an eyelash curler 24 hours prior.
  7. For lip pigmentation, begin prescription medications (Acyclovir, Prednisone) as directed by your physician.

72 Hours Before

  1. Scrub the treatment area well (to help remove dead skin). Be gentle with your eyelids.
  2. For brows and lips, no waxing, tweezing, threading, sugaring or tinting for 72 hours, to minimize skin irritation.
  3. No exposure to sun for 72 hours, to be sure skin isn?t burned or even slightly tanned.
  4. For eyeliner procedures, do not perm or tint eyelashes for 72 hours before.

1 Week Before

  1. For eyeliner procedures, please have any eyelash extensions removed a week prior to your service.
  2. No Alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Niacin, or Fish Oil, or prescription blood thinners, for one week prior to your appointment. Please do not discontinue use of any medication without consulting your physician.

1 Month Before

  1. No chemical peels.
  2. No Retin-A.
  3. No dermaplaning or microneedling.
  4. No laser hair removal.
  5. No botox, fillers, or other injectables (For lip pigmentation, wait three months after any lip filler.)

2-3 Months Before (for Eyeliner)

  1. No eye or eyelid surgery, including cataract, Lasik, and blepharoplasty procedures.
  2. Please consult with your physician to ensure how long you should wait after a surgical procedure before eyeliner tattoo.

3 or more (preferably 6-12) Months Before (for Lip Pigmentation)

  1. No lip filler of any kind within 3 months before a lip tattoo procedure. We prefer longer: the less time you wait, the more likely your lips could swell dramatically and painfully.

After the Procedure

  1. Apply a thin layer of the provided aftercare immediately.
  2. 4-5 hours after the procedure, clean the treated area once with distilled water using a cotton ball/pad or gauze.
  3. Avoid direct shower water on the treated area for 10 days.
  4. Do not apply ANYTHING to the treated area for 10 days. No water, makeup, lotion, pencil, or creams.
  5. No direct sun, intense sweating, or tanning for 10 days. Sweating brings salt to the surface and can prematurely fade the treated area.
  6. Do not rub, scratch, or pick. Let any scabbing or dry skin fall off naturally, Picking can cause scarring.
  7. – No swimming until treated area is completely healed. Salt water/chlorine can cause pigment to fade.
  8. Avoid sleeping on the face for 10 days or until fully healed.
  9. Apply sunscreen when going outside (AFTER the 10-day period).
  10. Wear sunglasses that are large enough to cover your brows.
  11. Apply lotion after washing your face (AFTER the 10-day period), morning and night, to keep your brows moisturized.
  12. Never use exfoliators or scrubs over the treatment areas. Before submerging in any water (pool, spa, lake), rub petroleum jelly over your brows.

1-3 days after the procedure, you will be in intense healing. You may have swelling, sensitivity, minor bruises, and some discomfort. These are normal, and you may take over the counter pain relievers.?

4-7 days after the procedure, the skin will start to become flaky and the top layer may start peeling off. Try to avoid picking, and let it flake off naturally. If the itching is overwhelming, just lightly tap the area. To help accelerate the healing, apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment or aquaphor at night before bed.
